- Nasson Bike Center is looking for volunteers! The Nasson Bike Center is a resource for local youth looking for a bike, fix a bike, needing some community service time, or wanting to learn some mechanical and problem solving skills. We are looking for volunteers to mentor our kids as they rebuild bikes making them safe and reliable. We are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 2 to 5:00 year round. There is no requirement that the volunteer participate a certain number of hours. It is helpful that they participate on a regular schedule. Read more.

This year’s BACKPACK GOLF TOURNAMENT to be held on
FRIDAY, JUNE 12 — 11:00 a.m. SHOTGUN
There remains a growing need in the City of Sanford to provide weekend food for qualified Sanford Students. It’s hard for students to sit in a classroom on Monday mornings and learn when they have spent the weekend hungry.
Your help is needed in supporting the BACKPACK GOLF TOURNAMENT which is providing the Sanford Backpack Program with funds to help combat this problem.
Last year’s tournament was a big success. We hope you will consider helping local students again this year with your support.
More information to follow.

Status of Child Care Services of York County
Dear Folks,
We (the administration of Child Care Services of York County, United Way of York County and York County Community Action Corporation) are contacting key members of the York County Community to inform them of the very real potential that Child Care Services of York County will be discontinuing services, effective September of 2015.
We are also inviting you to participate in a community conversation around the impact of losing these services, and to see if, within our local communities, there are other organizations who could assume the services CCSYC has traditionally provided.
This meeting is scheduled for:
Thursday, June 18,
3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
York County Community Action Program Conference Room
6 Spruce Street, Sanford ME 04073
If you are able to make this meeting, please RSVP to info@ccsyc.org. If you are unable to attend this meeting, but would like more information or clarification, please feel free to contact us at this same e-mail address. Please feel free to share this information and invitation to any other community members you feel would benefit from this information.

The Center for Parenting and Play is thrilled to have Carrie Contey, Phd., parenting coach/educator, return to The Center for Parenting and Play for a workshop on ReEnergizing Your Family Life!
Want to learn how to feel more connected, have more fun, and flow as a family (every single day)!
In her work as a parenting coach/educator the number one question asked is, “How can I get my kids to do what I need them to do without screaming, negotiating and bribing?!?!?”
In this 90 minute talk she will share the new science of cooperation through connection that will allow you to:
- Minimize meltdowns (your kids and your own).
- Know what to do when meltdowns occur.
- Motivate your little ones with minimal effort for smoother transitions.
- Understand, read and respond to your child’s brain state.
- Take better care of yourself so you can parent with ease and intention.
- Foster deep connection now, for great relationship later.
- Be more intentional in family life for the short and long-haul.
Participants will leave this workshop with their parenting tool box filled with new and effective strategies for making day-to-day family life easier, more fun and deeply satisfying.
Tickets are $25 with a portion of the proceeds going to help cover the cost for a St. Andre Home client! Please click the link for more information or to purchase your ticket. http://carriecontey.com/summer/.
