DRUG FREE COMMUNITIES (DFC) TASK FORCE: The mission is to reduce substance abuse by increasing protective factors and reducing risk factors at the community level. The task group provides guidance to and receives support from Strategies for a Stronger Sanford’s Drug Free Communities project.
- Activities: providing information and resources to the community and engaging all sectors of the community in environmental changes to reduce substance abuse.
- Meetings: Third Wednesday of the month at 9:00 in the media room at Sanford Regional Technical Center.

SYSTEMS INTEGRATION TASK GROUP: The group brings together the leaders of agencies that work with Sanford youth, who are or may become involved in the juvenile justice system, and may have mental health, substance abuse or behavioral challenges, for ongoing cross-system planning, communication and integration.

YORK COUNTY EARLY CHILDHOOD COALITION: The Early Childhood Coalition is a team of business people, service providers and community members interested in advocating for early childhood care and education across York County. The group is hosted at United Way of York County and had its beginnings as a team created in November 2007 to attend the Governor’s Economic Summit on Early Childhood Care and Education. In addition to the promotion of Born Learning, the group has also launched a Speakers Bureau, and hosts a yearly York County Community Conversation on Early Childhood.
SANFORD ACTIVE COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENT (ACE) Team: The Sanford ACE Team is a local group that envisions a community where residents and visitors can walk or bike across town safely and comfortably. Their mission is to foster a community environment in Sanford that is safe and inviting for people of all ages to enjoy active lifestyles. ACE Team meetings are open for any local resident or organization that wants to be involved in advocating and promoting bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly policies, programs, and infrastructure. Through ACE, help make Sanford better for biking and walking!
