  • Nasson Bike Center is looking for volunteers! The Nasson Bike Center is a resource for local youth looking for a bike, fix a bike, needing some community service time, or wanting to learn some mechanical and problem solving skills. We are looking for volunteers to mentor our kids as they rebuild bikes making them safe and reliable. We are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 2 to 5:00 year round. There is no requirement that the volunteer participate a certain number of hours. It is helpful that they participate on a regular schedule. Read more.
  • Wellness at Walmart:  Daily @ 6:00 am – 8:00 am; Partners for Healthier Communities, Let’s Go!, Sanford YMCA, and Walmart have partnered to offer a space for the public to walk 7 days a week from 6:00 to 8:00 AM. All are welcome to join!  Contact:  Betsy Kelly.

“This is US Project” @ Sanford High School
May 18 @ 7:10 am

This is Us Project at Sanford High School

In a recent survey, only 49% of Sanford youth (ages 12-18) said they felt like they mattered to people in our community.  Tangentially, 20% of Sanford youth (ages 12-18) expressed suicidal ideation in the last thirty days.

Together, with the Sanford High School Peer Helpers and Strategies for a Stronger Sanford, we can change that.

Join us on Friday, May 18th at Sanford High School to give our kids a warm welcome and to let them know that they do matter.  We will line the walkway to Sanford High School before students arrive; feel free to make posters and / or bring balloons or bubbles– though your presence is what matters most!

Please arrive at Sanford High School by 7:10am.  The event will take no more than 50 minutes of your time and will resonate with students for years to come.

To participate, please email nivey@strongersanford.org by May 15th.
