- Nasson Bike Center is looking for volunteers! The Nasson Bike Center is a resource for local youth looking for a bike, fix a bike, needing some community service time, or wanting to learn some mechanical and problem solving skills. We are looking for volunteers to mentor our kids as they rebuild bikes making them safe and reliable. We are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 2 to 5:00 year round. There is no requirement that the volunteer participate a certain number of hours. It is helpful that they participate on a regular schedule. Read more.

Come and try a whole new kind of event!
Run-Archery is a sport that combines target archery and running, similar to Olympic Biathlon. It is popular in Europe, but very new to the US, and is likely one of few events of this type in New England.
You’ll run four short cross country loops (totalling around 5 K), and shoot at targets in between. Like Olympic ski-rifle biathlon, keeping your heart rate low enough to shoot well is the challenge!
Shooting Distances-Novice- 10 yards for Youth, 15 yards for adults (all considered novice this first year). Instruction in safety will be given prior to race.
You can try this if you are new to archery, running, or both!

We could use some extra help the morning of the 21st.
A Chance to Help Roll Out the Red Carpet
We’ve often said in this corner of the Opinion page that the City of Sanford is currently undergoing a series of small and large-scale structural, institutional and cultural changes, all of which have tremendous potential to transform the community in positive ways. In terms of cultural growth, the annual Sanford International Film Festival (SIFF) has made significant strides in two short years to help put Sanford on the map.
SIFF will return for the third time in May. The event is being billed as “SIFF3,” playfully in step with the film industry’s tendency to crank out sequels. As with previous years, local educator James Harmon is the festival’s director.
